The keys to acing at school

School year 2016-2017 just started a couple of days ago and I want to make sure my siblings are prepared for it.They're incoming grade 8 and grade 11 students and that means a few more years of studying. Thus developing a good study habit is a must.

I prepared a guide that would equip them to be best in their class and to really take studying seriously. In our case, we only have each other to count on so that means we are on our own and we need to make sure that we can take care of ourselves. With this, having a great educational background would be a huge help.

I aim to really have this small discussions every weekend just about anything. I want to have a talk with them and see what's happening in their life and this is a good start for this school year.

Now with all the research I have done these are the things that would help anyone studying:

Night Before Chores

School starts early morning and everyone is in a rush so it's best to start prepping the night before. You can do chores you think is best done ahead of time in order to avoid morning rush. It's easier to move when you have everything ready to go. Packed lunch are prepared the night before and will be heated before they head to school. School bags and uniforms are all ready and properly arranged to make sure they won't forget anything before heading out. You can start doing some of the chores with the help of your kids to give them a sense of responsibilty.

Plan Ahead and Learn to break it up

Having a planner and a calendar with all the school activities and projects will play a big role in their time management and setting of priorities. You can give students a planner or assignment notebook to help them track all the school stuff they need to attend to. Having a calendar where they can write important projects can be of great help too. You can monitor what they need to do and can teach them how to divide their project into smaller portions so they won't have to cram last minute.

Good notes = Easier Studying

I read an article in Reader's Digets about the Straight A student's study habits. This, I like the most and I know would help in the long run. Just before the bell rings, students can uses those few minutes to write a two- or three-sentence summary of the lesson’s principal points, which they can scan before the next day’s class.

For sure there are more ways to develop good study habits and I want to hear more, so comment what you think would be a great help for students.

So far I heard that my siblings like the Good Notes strategy I shared with them and is really effective. I'm glad that my effort is really helping them out.
