CHORE/TASK REWARD PROGRAM

I’ve been thinking about how to make my siblings do their chores without being told twice and not to be scolded for that reason. I have tried to do it the hard way (scolding and shouting) so I am thinking of doing it the other way around, which will be a Reward System. So I did a little bit of research and I came across Chore Bucks. I love the idea and how it encouraged kids to do their tasks. I borrowed the idea but did a twist since my siblings are no longer kids.

It took me 2 days to finalize everything. From brainstorming to editing of pictures to printing and finally creating the mechanics.

OBJECTIVES:

-For them to see themselves as important contributors to the family. -Help increase possible cooperation in the household. -Have the initiative to do tasks and be more responsible. -Learn to accept and embrace their tasks. -Learn to do tasks with a sense of commitment. -Learn life skills. -Learn to respect one another and to avoid name calling.

BRAINSTORMING:

I want to help my siblings develop their mature qualities. And the best way I can think of is to start at home since they are already teenagers and I believe that they need all the guidance they can get.

I’ve got a list of chores they can do on a daily basis which includes:

-make bed -do dishes -do laundry -fold clothes -organize cabinet top -clean computer area -sweep -empty garbage -set table -clear table

and a lot more. But I don’t want it to be a normal Reward system where in they do the chore and receive something in return, so I decided to put corresponding tickets for every chore.

Now I need to come up with a set of items for the store which they can choose from if they wish to redeem using their tickets. I thought of things that would make them excited and would really make them work for it.

In terms of adding a twist, I decided to incorporate Monopoly’s Fortune and Chance Cards. I used some and created new ones. This is the exciting part because this would change the way they look at this program. I will call them Super Cards.

And because I want this to be fun and at the same time an opportunity to learn new things, I added Dare Cards, which would include random stuff they can do in order to gain more tickets.

Now for the deduction of tickets, I thought of a way that would also help them with their name calling, with the way they treat each other and to minimize their fights as well. So a deduction of tickets will be implemented once they have been served a Bad Mouth Card. This means they have said things that are hurtful and disrespectful.

Finally, aside from getting tickets from their completed chores they will also be receiving a weekly salary of 400 Tickets each which will be explained later in further.

SUPER CARDS This can be a great help or could cause them to loose some tickets. Every week they can pick 5 cards whick they can use now or keep until needed.

DARE CARDS A great way to learn new things in a fun way. They can pick 2 cards every week. I just randomly picked any dare I could think of.

TICKETS For the tickets I didn’t have time to create one so I printed the Monopoly money instead, Thanks to Pinterest I was able to find the pictures good enough to be printed out.

SALARY Aside from tickets they will be getting from their completed chores, every week they will receive 200 tickets. I got the idea from monopoly again, whenever you Pass Go you will be receiving your salary, so I did the same.

BIGGEST MOUTH Not only am i targeting their sense of responsiblity by doing their chores, I also want to cut all their name callings and being disrespectful. I have discussed about the Bad mouth card that if served will mean a deduction of 20,50 and 100 tickets. After 3 warnings, one will have the Biggest Mouth and will not receive a weekly salary.

STORE I created a few items they can choose from, mostly are food related because we just love to eat!

MAJOR ITEMS This will be they cherry on top, and will be their motivation for the entire program. I will be changing this from time to time because I know they will be saving tickets for this.

I launched the program today, Friday March 18, 2016 and I was so excited about the whole process. They were enthusiastic about it to. Because of the Major Items they can receive!

After explaining the process the next day they were all into cleaning the house! Without me even reminding them what they need to do. They were even reserving the things they want to do next just to make sure they gain more tickets!

I am excited about how this will turn out in the long run.
